Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of characters who will branch out from the main group to embark on their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his own means, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks retribution.
  • The adventurer has experience in the region and cautions that it is a hostile place.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could enable the group reach places they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The target is marked for death by House Halovar.

This leaves them little choice but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.

What’s Next?

From episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Seekers and Planners tables.

Fans can anticipate finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
